Massage Therapists

Melissa Hadder

I was born a healer. I knew this was my calling my whole life. I started formal training in the 90s, and I continue to study healing arts to the present day. I graduated from massage school at the Swedish Institute in NYC in 1997. I took Reiki I in 1998 on Martha’s Vineyard. I got my Reiki II certification onSeptember 11, 2001. My teacher and I dedicated the attunement as a blessing for the planet on a dark day. Another decade passed before I got my Reiki Master in 2011 at the Omega Institute. I completed the Boulder Psychic Institute undergraduate program in 2018, and I just took a graduate class with them in June 2022.

I went to the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in Rhinebeck, NY for the first time in October, 2008 as a participant. It was love at first sight. I applied to work in their wellness center for the following season. I started working at the Omega Wellness Center in 2009 as a massage therapist and Reiki healer. During my tenure there, I expanded my healing toolkit to include Alchemy Energetics, Magical Awakening, and Tarot Within. I added Energy healer and Tarot reader to my professional repertoire in 2012. In 2019, I switched from wellness provider to staff faculty. I taught Tarot classes, and a blend of my energy work skills suited for everyday use that I call Psychic Maintenance. I will be offering these classes at Mountain Rose starting in September 2022!

Over the years I expanded my techniques for the physical body as well as the metaphysical. In 2008 I became a certified Lotus Palm Thai massage practitioner. I have done Shiatsu since massage school, and that is actually the class I first taught at Omega while I still worked in the Wellness Center. I developed a pan-Asian blend of Thai and Shiatsu that we do on the mat. This is a great choice for sore skiers' legs.

I began my Craniosacral journey in 2013. Craniosacral is a light touch modality that directly affects the limbic and central nervous systems, and indirectly promotes healing for the whole body. I knew I needed to learn this skill after receiving one session: it stopped a migraine in its tracks. Nothing had ever worked for that for me before. My new path of academic pursuit laid itself out clearly before me. I continue that education every year or so. It is a lifelong pursuit that ripens like fine wine over time.

When someone comes to me for bodywork for a physical ailment, I take a clinical approach. When they come for a tarot reading and/or energy healing, I use my intuition to guide the work. I have a toolkit of healing skills. Which one I use unfolds in the course of that individual session.

Sessions are available at Mountain Rose by appointment.

Tarot and Energy Healing: $80/hour

Massage, Thai/Shiatsu, and Craniosacral: $100/hour

Richard Savory

I began my professional foray into the healing arts in 2004 with a 250 reflexology training in the Ingham method, taught by Myra Acorn in Augusta Maine. In the following few years I trained with several other prominent reflexologists (Dwight Byers and Bill Flocco to name a couple) and worked in both spa and private practice settings in Vermont, Idaho and Washington State.

During these years, my interest in coaching was developing alongside my reflexology practice, and In 2008 I attended Byron Katie's School for the Work. Katie's method of inquiry is a super effective tool for questioning one's thoughts and keeping in check the egoic mind. I always appreciate the opportunity to offer her simple questions to an open mind; including my own!

Oregon was not only my next geographic stop but also the location of my next formal training. I graduated from Sage School of Massage in Bend Or in 2015. Sage is a 740 hour program which prepared me state licensure in Oregon. (This education and credential set me apart from many Massage Therapists in an unregulated state)

I strongly value physical touch and emotional intimacy which I believe are neglected to profound detriment. With professional and therapeutic intent and skill, massage is one of the most powerful, and accessible aids to well being I know.
