Acupunture FAQs

WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE AND HOW DOES IT WORK?

Acupuncture is an ancient Eastern Medicine thousands of years old that promotes health and balance within the body. There are several energetic pathways that carry qi (vital energy), fluids and blood to all areas of the body. When a pathway is blocked because of trauma, age, injury, or habits, the qi and blood do not access all areas, resulting in pain or illness. The insertion of needles in specific points along the pathways correct the imbalances and treat the root cause of symptoms.

WHAT DOES IT TREAT?

In the 1970s, the UN’s World Health Organization stated that acupuncture treats over 40 symptoms, including:

  • Depression

  • Stress

  • Anxiety

  • Gastrointestinal disorders

  • Insomnia

  • Female & Male infertility

  • Respiratory disorders

  • Arthritis

  • Dizziness

  • Musculoskeletal pain (neck, shoulder, low back, elbow & knee pain)

  • Allergies

WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE?

The needles used in treatment are as thin as your hair. Upon insertion there may be slight tingling, numbness, a heavy or traveling sensation or nothing at all. These are all good feelings because it means that the body’s qi is activated.
